Tradition & Excellence at Franz Schindler Winery
Since generations the Winery Franz Schindler is owned by the same family and being run by the 4th generation. The 15 ha vineyards (70% red and 30% white wine) from the winery are located in the best wine-growing areas and sites of Mörbisch.
The mild climate, the influence trough the lake and the extreme quantity reduction in the vineyard, ensure every year great ripeness and healthy grapes. The cultivation happens under strict criterions. The way how the grape-vine is cut and the limitation of the earning build the basic component for the desired substance and the destiny of our wines.
The Winery produce wine using a wide range types and methods; from dry or fruity to the exquisite sweet wines. Using classic steels vat or large wooden barrels to the mighty barrique. (toasted French and American oak barrels).
The white wines like Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Muskat Ottonel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are fermented in high grade steel containers. The results are destiny wines with intensive abundance of fruit. The top-product from our white wine assortment is “Cuvée d’Argent”.
The must from red wines like Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are fermented up to 2 weeks on the mash. After the biological acid decomposition the new wine rips either in big oak barrels or like “Cuvée d’Or” the top quality product of the red wines,
up to 24 months in new Barrique. Deep colour, a dark fruity flavour, rich in substance and a tremendous tannin structure are distinguished for these wines.
The sweet wines mostly from Bouvier and Chardonnay impress with harmony, power, fruit and fine acidity. They wines are always in balance with alcohol and never ostensible sweet. Therefore our wines belong to the great wines from Austria.
The philosophy, to allow great wines more maturation time in the barrels and bottle and market them later has been confirmed by numerous awards like the 4th Falstaff Star and the 4th Vinaria Crown and top positions among the best wines in Austria.
